About the Lincoln music Classroom
Get ready to sing, say, dance, and play!
What to Expect: Here at Lincoln, we believe that the joy of music making is an innate ability that is accessible to each and every child. In the Lincoln music classroom, we capitalize on this ability and allow student choice and creativity to drive the music making experience. Students can expect to explore singing, dancing, improvising, creating their own music, playing a variety of instruments, collaborating with their friends to create musical performances, creative movement, and so much more! Students will also have the opportunity to enjoy a “safe” learning environment where mistakes are welcomed and creative risk-taking is encouraged.
What is “Orff Schulwerk”: The music curriculum in the Lincoln music classroom is supported with an approach to learning known as Orff Schulwerk. Named after the German composer who developed the approach, Carl Orff, Orff Schulwerk explores learning through movement, engaging creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking.
